Sean Russell Hallowell (@isorhythmics) is a composer and video artist based in Sonoma County, CA. His time-based art synthesizes experimental techniques developed from hand-built circuitry with a cosmic perspective on music as a conduit for physical and metaphysical energy.
His music has been showcased at venues and festivals across the US (Gray Area, SXSW, NYCEMF) as well as internationally in Mexico, Chile, South Korea, Japan, Belgium, the UK, Croatia, Poland, and Iceland. Recent audiovisual works have been installed at galleries in San Francisco, New York City, and London.
His art is inspired by the life left in outmoded technologies, e.g. analog tape and cathode-ray tube televisions. Through them, he explores the phenomenology of time in relation to those divisions of Medieval philosophy known all together as the quadrivium — i.e. music, arithmetic, geometry, and astronomy.
